Workplace preparedness for novel coronavirus (COVID-19) - WorkSafe
Minimising the spread of infectious diseases in the workplace is important to keeping staff safe and well at work.
The Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 requires businesses to mitigate health and safety risks and protect their workers from them, so far as is reasonably practicable.
Under HSWA workers are also required to take care of theirs and others health and safety while at work, and follow and cooperate with reasonable health and safety instructions, policies and procedures they are given.
In the event of novel coronavirus (known as COVID-19) emerging in New Zealand, the Ministry of Health has guidance for infectious disease prevention and control for workplaces which may be useful to protect workers and others now.
